Austrian Napoleonic Infantry 1809-1815

As Napoleon drove his French armies across much of Europe in his campaign to conquer his neighbouring lands and become Emperor of all, England, Spain and Russia stood against this tide of devastation in what became known as the Napoleonic wars.

Having lost the Battle of Trafalgar, the French army left Boulogne and headed towards Austria. The Austrian forces had invaded Bavaria, and the French soon had them surrounded - forcing a surrender with few losses on either side. However, many other meetings between the two ended by less peaceful means - for example, the battle of Moravia resulted in the deaths of more than 25,000 Austrian soldiers, and 7,000 French.

The Austrians eventually left the war, losing not just Venetia, but also a large portion of their armed forces along the way.
